Happy Peace Memorial Day (和平紀念日)

Today is a memorial to mark the 2-28 Incident in 1947 where the then KMT massacred thousands of innocent people who were protesting against the government. The number of deaths are estimated to be between 10,000-30,000 people. This day marked the beginning of the White Terror period and a time of mass incarcerations, deaths and disappearances. Today we honor those people who died fighting a repressive regime. Long live Taiwanese Democracy!

Breaking the ice

http://angeliq.deviantart.com

"Breaking the ice" is an idiom about when a person wants to begin a conversation  during an uncomfortable situation that will make everyone relaxed. Someone says an "icebreaker" to make everyone comfortable.

An example could be a class of students with a new teacher and the teacher "breaks the ice" with a joke or activity.

So lets begin. Lets break the ice of any expectations we may have about yoga or learning a foreign language.
