Happy Peace Memorial Day (和平紀念日)

 Today is a memorial to mark the 2-28 Incident in 1947 where the then KMT massacred thousands of innocent people who were protesting against the government. The number of deaths are estimated to be between 10,000-30,000 people. This day marked the beginning of the White Terror period and a time of mass incarcerations, deaths and disappearances. Today we honor those people who died fighting a repressive regime. Long live Taiwanese Democracy!
